I need a psu for a new build and according to sights that tell you how much psu you need i need around 750w any recommendations for a good quiet PSU?

XFX powersupply or RM series

Are you going to SLI or Crossfire? Otherwise 750W is overkill, what are your specs?

But this guy's right.

Don't listen to these guys, having extra headroom never hurts, it will keep you from having to buy the same component twice as PSUs can often last for several builds. For good and quiet Corsair RM or (new) AX series would be great choices.

Not a bad price, very nice cables, solid brand (Sea Sonic makes XFX)  The headroom issue is always a point of contention, IMHO, the efficiency curves of PSUs peaks around the 55%-65% level, the fans will make much less noise at this level, and you have room to upgrade if you feel the need.  So there is no problem with going a bit higher than you need to.  If you are running one GPU a 1500W is obviously to much, but nothing wrong with a 750W for a single card.

EDIT:  You might want to look at the new Corsair RM series PSUs, they are a bit more expensive, but the fan will not even run at lower wattage use (so more wattage will give you a ZERO noise PSU)

What's the specification of the system that this PSU is going to be powering? Do you have any plans to SLI/CFX? If you haven't gotten your parts together yet, you should do that first before you go about looking for a PSU.

What's your budget and what country are you from (post links to shops you are able to buy from, would be a great help if you are outside the US)?

A quality 550w would be plenty for a single card GPU. You could also used it in future builds if you want.

If you can budget a higher wattage PSU then go for it. Output diminishes over time and it's always gret to have the room for additional GPUs and overclocking.

I have the HX1050 and I plan on an additional 780, but, with the way power saving tech is coming along; we may not need anything close to 1000w in the next 5 years. Chips are lowering tdp with more research implemented every 18 months.

I am starting with one 780 or r9 290x but wanted a but extra power so if i add another and do sli i don't have to buy a new PSU

I would like to bay around 120-130 but i would be OK spending a bit more if necessary.

and thankfully (for shipping reasons) I live in the US.

XFX Pro Series 750w Black Edition would be my recommendation: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207029

The 850w version would be $149.99 shipped but got a $15 MIR you can do. http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Edition-Modular-Certified-P1850BBEFX/dp/B00B88Z0LM/

They are based on the high-end Seasonic KM3 design like the Corsair AX760/860 to put it into perspective.

The Corsair RM750/850 is a good mainstream unit as well. Corsair has put a lot of focus in making this a quiet unit, in which the chances of coil whine is greatly reduce, as they wound up the coils more tightly and isolate it with tape or whatever. It also remain fanless until 500w+ for the 850w unit. So with a single GPU card, what you have is a fanless unit throughout the load pattern for the most part. However, while this may be great news to those who want the quietest power supply, it can be seen as a negative, as the internal temperature of the PSU may get hot. If this unit had high-quality components, it would likely be fine, but this uses Ltec capacitors which can negatively affect reliability / longevity. Of course, Corsair does offer a 5 year warranty on this unit, so if the PSU fails, Corsair would more than likely replaced it. Personally, I would much rather get a better build PSU from the get-go.
