What software could I use, to find out about my northbridge frequency? In the bios i could set a multiplier, but its set to auto and i can't find out that "auto" value. I overclocked my FSB and it seems like only the Northbridge is causing problems.

CPUz show nb frequency all you have to do is set the strap northbridge to fsb thing to 400mhz then your ram to the lowest multiplier, then your ram and northbridge will be running at the identical speed. then to make things more stable if the ram is running beyond its rated speed you loosen the ram's timmings a notch or two then give it a voltage bump by .05 or .1 depending on how high your overclocking

Is it HT Link?

Ram is running at Stock.

What should i set to 400 mhz?

northbridge = FSB * number

Ram = CPU / other number

CPU = FSB * 10

I can't set anything to 400mhz.

can you take a pic of the bios overclock settings so i can show you what to key in. tell me the motherboard model and the cpu you are using so i can get you a reasonable oc to aim for

NB Frequency is usually around 1800-2200 depending on board and generation of chip.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Stock: 2ghz)

Mobo: Winfast MCP61M2MA

my northbridge seems not to be capable of 1150Mhz+.

ok what you want to do is keep the HT link below 1,000MHz so you would increase the cpu frequency while lowing the ht link multiplier also lower your ram multiplier with it too. as long as you keep the HT link under 1,000mhz and the ram close to its rated speed then you will be fine.

did you loosen the ram timmings? i had trouble with a OC before and it turned out the ram was the culprit. using crappy ram hinders your OC by alot so it is important to loosen the timmings if you have shitty ram

if it is unstable oc then yes as loosening the timings can help stabilize the OC
