I'm thinking of upgrading to a larger ssd:

Crucial m4 128gb to Samsung Evo 250gb.

The primary reason is that space on my current ssd is getting tight and the 250gb mark seems to be a good spot for storing your OS, programs, and games. I store everything else on a 2tb hdd.

What I'm stuck on is whether to upgrade now or later.

This comparison says I get about a 46% real world increase (and the fact that the m4 256gb model has a faster write than my 128gb model)

If youve filled up the old ssd just get the evo, and still use the old one for games and stuff like that!

Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie!

Honestly I didn't feel a huge difference (in fact none at all) between a Intel G2 Postville 80GB, a 512GB Samsung 830 and a 120GB Samsung 840 ...

There is a huge difference between HDD and SSD, but between modern SSDs IMHO not so much.

I would buy a Samsung SSD because I think they are good quality and relatively cheap, but not because they perform better/worse than other SSD brands.

Not really. To the pro maybe.

The biggest difference will be the writes and on the pro a few more features.

If you've got enough to change the SSD's, I don't really think its worth it. Maybe try boosting up something else? Buy another monitor or something? :)

Didn't really read the question...

If you want more space, will you be keeping the old ssd? If so get another 120GB~ and stick your OS on one and applications/games on the other. That will see more benefit as then the games are separate to the OS also, even though i don't think the OS will max out the bandwidth of the drives as it is... :P
