So this is my first PC build, am I getting good a good value? Am I missing anything? Any other comments? I was going for an around $900 gaming pc that could also handle some cad and rendering (Excluding peripherals). I want to be able to expand later, second GPU, water cooling for OC, more RAM, but not yet. Thanks! http://pcpartpicker.com/list/M2y99W

And maybe how he should wait for the rx480 and get something other than the CX PSUs? (A PSU from seasonic or XFX (except the XT series) are all better than the green label CX ones and with their cheapest ones, about the same or slightly worse quality than the grey labeled CX PSUs but not worth to take the risk IMO)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Grey units are S12ll from Seasonic level. They're fine.

There ya go!

Now, I would change a few things. First the motherboard. I would go with a Z97 board, I would also suggest a different brand (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI). You'll also want to make sure you get an SSD, it'll make a big difference. Next I wouldn't get the 960 at this point. AMD has the RX 480 coming out soon and it looks to be a great value card priced around $200. It's also worth getting a better PSU. You want to make sure you have something that will last and give you the OC headroom you need in the long run.

Here is an updated build list with my recommendations. Please note there is no GPU as the 480 is not out yet. This might be slightly over your budget but I think these changes would be worth it.

Miss interpreted your not worth the risk statement then, my bad.

As in not all CX PSUs that are being sold are grey labeled so some are still the good ol' shitty ass components that plagued the old CX line up :) but it's all guld :D

Different PSU, NEX series is sub-par and not worth their cost. For CAD and rendering, more cores and more ram will benefit him.

Fair enough, I'm not an expert on PSUs :(

I was gonna suggest an i7 but wasn't sure about budget concerns.

Different PSU...it's overpriced. Also, there's no point spending $900 on a system with no dGPU and has an i5 (if you're going for the future then you didn't even recommend skylake...pfffttt I'm sorry but that's kinda pathetic).

Which in that case, the Xeon 1231v3 fits that criteria perfectly :)
