I have about £40 ($56). Doesn't have to be mechanical.

What do you mean by plain, what features are you looking for specifically

k95 rgb by corsair can be plain/simplistic

What size keyboard?

Please keep his budget in mind. The K95 is four times his budget.

If you are looking for a keyboard with replaceable key caps, then mechanical is pretty much the only way.

Not all gamery you know? not all weird angles and colours and graphics. Professional looking. Any size is fine.

cherry mx it is then, do you prefer lighting or no lightning?

Lighting is cool but if it adds to the price it isnt worth it.

I know this is a little more than you're hoping for but it is on sale right now and seems to fit what you're looking for well - clean, simple professional look, but does have (white) lighting, gamer features, brown switches:

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

You're looking for 'half mechanical' keyboards. They'll be real cheap since they're membrane, but have cherry mx compatible stems so you can change keycaps.

like these:

The Redragon K552 is mechanical.

And I'm quite sure that 99% of 'mechanical feel' keyboards don't have Cherry MX compatible keycaps :)

The Redragon looks pretty nice, but I would be tempted to somehow remove the redragon plate thing!

In the end this is probably the area I go for - my price limits are a little unrealistic! Besides this is for when I build a PC - currently using a laptop.

The Havit most definitely does have cherry compatible stems, besides the screenshot of the stem in the amazon item, I've seen some youtube reviews of 'half mechanical' keyboards and use of customizable mx compatible caps is one of the major selling points of being half mechanical.

I should also mention it's available with red switches if you prefer

Personally, I couldn't deal with a compact layout but that's very personal so if you know you're fine with it, no worries there.

As for the brand, it's one of the thousands I've never heard of that seem to be common on massdrop, amazon, etc.  They might be great, or terrible, but I have no idea.  Personally, I wouldn't trust any of them though.
