Today at E3 microsoftt announced a few tiers of the xbox one with what they say is 6tf of performance. I cant help but feel it will cost well over 500usd. While it would be cool a console could match the 1070...its at what cost?

The nice thing is that a lot of new games will be PC compatible, so there'd be no need to buy scorpio to experience xbox exclusive in high-quality.

Think people are going to be better off just buying or building a pc for vr or 4k then buying a console. Its like buying a laptop for gaming after a while its going to be useless for gaming and youll have to buy a new machine as opposed to just upgrading a gpu.

6 TFLOPS is like gtx 1070 lvl more or less... but they said starting prize is 299$ so it prolly costss 600+ is my bet

300 is probably the current xbox now then from what I could gather it looks like there will be two to three tiers aove that with varying power gpu wise. I think it destroys the purpose of a console to have multiple sets of hardware they need to optimize for.

300$ is the cost of xbox one slim which will be launched in august 2016 which and i quote from what's written on gamespot "40 percent smaller than the existing model. It also comes with HDR and 4K video support, among other new features."

Looks equal as bad as the current one though. wish they did a better design to it.

Well it certainty makes the constant "what console should I get" threads easier to answer.

Basically if you want a secondary machine that works well with your PC? If you don't care that you can already play all of the same games? Then the XBOne is a good console to get. Because a good number of the games they talked about had cross-buy and cross-play between XBOne and PC. It's basically like a Steam Machine except there are actually games on it. And there are two SKUs, the budget SKU and the mid-range SKU. I personally would rather spend the money I would spend on a budget SKU upgrading my GPU but still. If I really wanted a console? These are not bad options for someone who already has a PC.

On the other hand if you don't care about playing the same games? If you want exclusive and unique content that you can't get on PC. Then I'm sure that whatever the NX is will be the best choice. Because as great as the games Microsoft and Sony showed were I can already play most of them on PC. But Zelda is looking just as interesting if not more and I won't be able to play it on PC.

The PS4 by comparison doesn't really have much at all to offer. It's a great console to get if you're not a PC gamer and probably the one I'd recommend to people who aren't PC gamers. But for people who are? The games are too similar to what you can get on PC and there is no cross-buy. So why would you?
