So the GTX 1070 is out and here comes the question many people before me have probably already asked, which custom card do is worth my money? Now, I'm only choosing the reasonably sized cards such as the ones from EVGA, MSI or the Zotac amp (the one with two fans, not the two and a half slot behemoth with three fans). I want to get either the 1070 FTW from EVGA or the Gaming X from MSI because they have 10+2 power phase and because their larger PCBs house bigger heat sinks on them. What I don't know is do I need those extra phases for overclocking or would the 4+2 phases on the EVGA SC and MSI Armor be good enough? I currently have a budget of around $450 and the Gaming X and FTW cards are closer to $520.

no you do not need any extra power phases or plugs with the 1070

it is too power efficient

your overclock will be limited by the silicon lottery
