Need Router Help!!!

Right now I am using ATT's uverse router/modem but no that long ago I bought a new router (Netgear Nighthawk X6 7200) I have already disabled the router that was built in with the modem so the Wi-Fi works fine but I'm having trouble with the LAN ports on the new router. Every time I connect anything through them my Wi-Fi goes out :(. Is there anything else that i must do in order to make them work properly? Thanks :)
