How to remove cpu heatsink backplate?

I've got this old motherboard from a pre built system, lga 775 socket, with a screw in heatsink fan. I've taken out the fan and the heatsink but the backplate won't budge, it seems to be stuck in the centre and not by the pins sticking through the motherboard. I've tried to push the pins through but i don't want to put too much pressure on the pcb. Any help would be great.

Might just be glued. Lick it off.

You shouldn't ever have to force PC parts, maybe it just isn't meant to come off. Might I ask what you're doing with the heatsink off in the first place?

There is probaly some double sided tape under the backplate, if there is some tape under there you will need to try and wiggle it to get it loose.

replacing the stock heatsink fan with a large passive heatsink

Got it off eventually man that thing was ON there, kudos to acer didn't think they made double sided tape that strong. manged to gradually peel it off by pushing each of the pins with a screw driver slightly one at a time.
