Also in your opinion is lg the best option for 1440p ultra wide gaming monitors?

This is rather high quality all around monitor than gaming monitor, with some gaming features added for making it more universal and attractive (low input lag, 75Hz, FreeSync). Like I said before, this monitor combines good quality manufacturing, image quality and very good gaming performance at reasonable price which makes by far the best on the 1440p ultrawide market. Other ultrawides are either suffering from quality issues (basically all of them), low picture quality (Samsung VA ones), no gaming features (most of them) or terrible pricing (gaming ones). LG 34UC88 is something like sweet spot, everything is in check, quality is okay and consistent for all models, picture quality is very good, some gaming features are there and it is priced well on ultrawide market.

I will be upgrading my monitor soon i would like to get a 1440p ultra wide i have been looking at the ROG SWIFT PG348Q but i wanted more opinions. my first question is 1440p worth it for gaming is there a difference thats noticeable when compared to a 1080p screen. another thing is if it is worth it, can my pc run it http://pcpartpicker.com/list/bXcHxY. also if theres a better option than the swift please tell me thanks.

your pc can play 1440p without an issue, i dont think you will get 100fps in all games but i reckon you could in most.

Yes, you can run 1440p just fine. Don't expect 144 FPS though, 60 FPS is much more realistic.

If you want to see the difference between 1440 and 1080, go to a store that has monitors on display.

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

There is noticeable difference between 1080p and 1440p and it is worth it for gaming, especially if you have 980Ti that can run this resolution properly. 3440x1440 is a bit more taxing, but still can be pushed by 980Ti with good performance after some graphics settings tweaking (only in the most demanding games, and basically setting some things to high instead of completely maxing out).

PG348Q is terribly overpriced and very faulty monitor, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you want 34" 1440p ultrawide then you need to look at some quality options, because 34" ultrawides are generally very faulty and have many quality issues, you really need to pick good one if you don't want to pay heavy money for faulty garbage. At the moment LG 34UC88 is the best option, combining high quality with some gaming features at reasonable price.

Having a 1440p Monitor now, I can definitely say that it's the way to go. Even though I'm only hitting 60fps instead of 100Hz on a 1080 panel, I find that the resolution with the IPS panel that I have to be perfect for gaming. Honestly, I'm not planning to go into the competitive field, and find that the beauty of games such as Battlefield 4, Witcher 3, and Far Cry 4 are just too good to pass up. But if you're into more competitive play and want to get the maximum you can out of your monitor, sticking with a higher refresh rate is always better, but most people don't play at a level where that really matters.

We all want to enjoy the game we're playing, so why not make it look better with a better resolution eh?

Hope this helps :D

And I love high quality high resolution image on 21:9 aspect ratio. But I don't say that gaming=IPS ultrawide, because there are different games and different styles of playing. 144Hz is completely useless in many cases, ultrawide is also not a way to go in some situations, so you cannot generalize like that.

Even worse than Asus. They are similarly bad but Asus has better external build quality, so you can say that it is better, or rather less terrible.
