Surround Setup With Multiple Non-sli GPU's

I plan on having a surround setup with 3 monitors and 3 1080's but I know that there are scaling and performance issues once you pass the 2 gpu threshold. Would it be possible to have 3 1080's that aren't sli'd together and plug one monitor into each monitor and would it be possbile to game on a surround setup by going into windows and making each monitor a distinct monitor?

1. Threeway is no longer supported for games

2. No, unless it is three instances of a game

3. HOWEVER there are certain games that may make use of three GPUs in the future if they do not use SLI
