I'm trying to get a decent Gaming laptop for the time being, I have been looking at ROG's which on amazon and BB have good reviews, but on Newegg, Some seem to have an issue with the screen staying off in sleep mode.  My Budget Is/will be about 1100-1200 (Though less would of course be better). The Games I plan on playing, Heavily modified minecraft, Crossout, Warthunder, WoWs, and Fractured Space, the first and last are basically the most intensive.

I just need help figuring out stuff, my last laptop that I though was gonna be good for me because i let myself get sold was a damn HP Envy

Cool! Thank you all, further question, Is 17.1 screens much more expensive?

Generally adds a healthy boost to the price. Not too much more expensive, but for $1200, stick to 15" machines if you want a better GPU.

Allrighty Keeping that in mind, thank you

I would wait for a little longer to see what new GPUs are coming out as they've already mentioned the mobile Pascal market is incoming soon. Sooooo... pause a purchase for a while to better gauge what to specifically go after, if only to better spend your money.

Would rather you get the best machine you can for X amount rather than deal with something previous gen and effectively overpaying for something that's now "underpowered".

The new GPUs will be more expensive. They price of the old ones won't drop for at least a couple of months.

Mobile GPUs never drop in price. The only time/place you find them lower is on ebay.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Well, usually the price of the actual laptop drops when there's a switch between old and new. But that's just to get rid of the extra old stock. So it could be a chance.

Yeah, you'll find old stock, not-being-made-anymore laptops being sold at decent sale prices sometimes. but they're usually not really worth the purchase. Soldered mobile Haswell and broadwell for example require much elbow grease to get into a decent working state, and are TDP limited under heavy load, and often (though admittedly more in the "uncommon" rarity bracket) have ridiculous default voltages (I've seen 1.4v for a 3.4GHz 4720HQ at stock already).

But buying the GPUs themselves from a seller that sells them like HIDevolution or RJTech etc, will keep their price high. For example, a new 780M is $860 USD. A new 980M 8GB is $720 USD; $750 USD for gsync version. These are prices as of right now on RJTech.

Agreed. But unless you really want to tinker with your laptop and remove/install a new GPU, I wouldn't really suggest buying the GPU by itself. While what you're saying is true about older laptops, it isn't really the case anymore, as technology advancements regarding TDP, undervolting and whatnot, have made laptops a bit more durable.

Sure, you won't get the same power 2-3 years from now from a 960M laptop, but if you can buy it and it's in your budget, it would make more sense to buy it, instead of buying a GPU chip.

For MXM it's a simple slot-in upgrade. If you can do it on a desktop you can do it on a laptop. It's extremely easy. That's if however the laptop has a MXM slot. ASUS laptops have not been upgrade-able for over six years if memory serves me. Even though using MXM they used custom PCBs which changed for each machine; relegating laptops to only have swappable GPUs from those sold with their own model. MSI and (legacy) Alienware and Clevo are upgrade-able otherwise, as far as I know. Most of gigabyte's machines are too thin to use slots and want everything soldered to the board to keep the thinness and actually be able to attach a heatsink, so they won't be using MXM.

I don't understand what you're talking about regarding TDP, undervolting, and "more durable" laptops. You need to explain in some greater detail to me.

I also don't understand this right here. Also all 960Ms are soldered, there are no MXM variants. You're more confusing me here O_O.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
