Hello so my question is will increasing my gpu clock and my memory clock take more power than stock ? I am asking this because my PSU is just very bad and it is at its limit most of the time.

My GPU is an MSI r9 270 and my PSU is a cooler master RS-500-PCAP-I3. You would say it is enough but i am getting strange lines across the screen when the card is at 100% usage.

the lines are caused by artifacting, thats because of the gpu not the psu.

 

a 500 watt psu is more than enough for a little 270.

 

but then again your psu only has 1x6 pin, so i suggest that you upgrade it.

No i don't mean white lines just strange black lines which i can still see color through, also when i turn v-sync on they  dissapear.

i never said white lines, they will still be caused by artifacting (most likely), when vsync is on, the gpu isnt being pushed as much as when it is limited.

Does that mean that my gpu is faulty ?

i did a quick google search and found a few different answers, but i still believe its to do with your gpu yes, does this happen in all games?

 

if you download a tool called furmark, it stress tests your gpu, if you get the black lines running this, then its your gpu.

Yes it happens in all games.

download furmark, run it and see if the black lines appear.

it could also be screen tearing though.

Strange but it doesn't happen in FurMark and its reading my card to be R7 370, mine is r9 270 ???

then its screen tearing, im not sure how you get rid of screen tearing but the best thing to do is make sure you have the latest gpu drivers and if you have another cable you can try, replace it and see what happens.
