Hi guys..

In this video Luke said that people who just need more ports (me) should buy cards like the GT210.
I am not a specialist on video cards, but wouldn't that affect the performance of my display hooked up to that card?

Like I said, I am not that much of a profession on GC and don't know if there is a way to go around that...

But I think in this forum are enough professions about that.

Thanks for your help!

What's your current video card? Are you just out of outputs on it? A display isn't really going to have any issues being hooked up to a low end GPU, but you don't really need a second GPU unless you're going to hook up more than 3-4 displays depending on your current GPU and how you hook things up.

Also from the part picker at least, the R5 230 for like 6 EU cheaper

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The GT 210 is not intended to be a high end gaming card. If you're just using your computer for things like Excel, general computing, and multitasking, it would do fine.

If you already have a high end card and want more ports, you can consider SLI/Crossfire, but you would need another similar card to do that. You could also just buy a different card entirely.

Alright... My current GPU is the NVidia GTX 750 Ti and yes, with my three monitors I'm out of ports, but I am planning to redesign my whole room and would like to hook up some kind of beamer to project like youtube videos and stuff to my wall or so..

No, my system is fully meant to be a gaming system..

Ok.. I just have to make some exact research about SLI/Crossfire but I think that would be no problem..

In that case, another 750Ti in SLI or a new card with more ports on it is probably your best option. If it's within your reasonable budget, a newer card is more likely to yield more favorable results. SLI has some things that it doesn't do very well.

Id suggest something slightly faster and newer than a 210 as when i was a using a 5450 for extra monitors(simmilar performance) it would cause the system to lag, and struggle to play youtube videos.

Alright! Thanks for all your replies... I will look for another 750Ti, maybe a bit better... ;) And will put them into SLI/Crossfire.. If I have any more questions, I will make a topic for it.. Thanks again.

If you get something newer, use it as a replacement option, not a pair option. Only go for SLI if you can get another 750Ti.

My recommendation would be to find a 4GB GTX 950 that has lots of ports, or see if you can find an AMD GPU that's on the newer side with enough ports to handle what you want to do with it.

IF you use SLI or Crossfire you only get the display outputs from the first GPU

You should probably just wait and save up for a higher end GPU that can do 4 displays on it's own, probably like the RX 480 at the end of this month which should be as fast as a 390x/980-lite for a really low cost, and just find one with a bunch of display port outputs

Mostly what you're going to want to look for is display port ouputs, because you can easily adapt them into most other display connectors, not really VGA though

Or they make specialized GPUs like this 7750 with 6 display port outputs, but that isn't going to be worth it

Ok... I don't have that much of a budget, but I will look, what I can do.. First I'll look for a cheap 750Ti Deal.. Maybe later I'll upgrade to 950 or something similar..

Ok, So a new card with more outputs would be better, right?

It's really not going to be worth it doing SLI 750tis, just wait for the RX 480, or buy a 950 like this that has 3 display port outputs, pretty sure it only supports 4 monitors in total though

Also ya, I don't even know if you can SLI 750tis

Or even wait for the 480, and then prices on every GPU are going to drop a ton.

Display port is like the best thing to have because you can easily change it to DVI or HDMI 1.4, and you can even buy display port hubs to turn one display port into multiple ports, not exactly sure how those work though

but seriously wait for the 480, pricing seems to be about 1:1, so it'll end up being basically a $200 390X/980-lite

Alright.. So to the conclusion: A new card with more outputs and if needed displayport to dvi/hdmi adapter.. Right?
