I'm using ubuntu server as the os for my home server, but I can't remember the password I had set for it.

the login and boot screens don't have the grub options or safe mode options available.

The login page is just login and password; nothing else.

I can't even install another os.

Any help is appreciated. :)

this may be of some help, as mentioned a few times in the forum linked, you need to hold down the shift key to get to the grub option or boot menu.

Let us know if this fails, but password recovery is limited in most linux distros since they are aimed heavily at security.
