dac DAC For 598

Hey guys,

I have been thinking about entering the audiophile world and have decided on purchasing a Sennheiser 598. Before I purchase it, I have two questions:

1. What's the difference between the Ivory version and the Black version (Special Edition)?
2. What is a good budget DAC that I could purchase with the 598's, if I need one?

Get the 558 they sound 95% the same and there is a really simple mod to make them sound 100% the same as the 598 oh and read this.

Oh and I am 99% sure that you don't need a dac and amp (if you get a dac you need to get a amp or else it is useless)

Nice post. I'll follow your advice and get an amp/dac only if I need one.

open them and remove some foam close them again done.

Yeah with your motherboard you will not notice much of a difference with a DAC, an amp will be more apparent but even still you most likely dont need one atm (I do not have any good amp recommendations)

You can google it, I'd done it for my HD555, making it sound more like the HD595. But I'd done it at a time when I'd had already bought a few higher end cans already, so I didn't use it much.......it was more for something to do, a simple and fun project.
