Heat/Booting issues

Go to solution Solved by m157,

I do have the stock cpu cooler unused in a box i can go grab, I can order some thermal paste quickly, ill try going to stock for a bit

What can i use to clean the cpu/block?

I have a FX 8350 with a Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 mobo, with a Corsair H100i cooler

The computer will get to the very start of windows then shut down, VRM is cool, If i feel under the H100i where the cpu is, its hot as hell

Its been working fine for 3 years now, just started acting up with heat issues...

Anyone got any ideas

Can you see the temps in windows? Or does it turn off to quickly?

Can you get into the BIOS? You should be able to see the temps there.

Could the pump have died? Or the fan? Or the PSU?

If it worked before I would first check the pump (can you hear it?), fans (rpm) and the radiator (dust or leaks). Check for proper seating of the CPU block and replace the thermal paste in case you haven't changed it in the last 3 years.

Just got into bios for 10 seconds, cpu was 44c, mobo was lower

It might be the pump...

44 C is a bit warm but it's not terrible. Does the temp increase overtime?

I turn on, get into bios, and less then 5 seconds later, shuts downs, Does the pump make any noticeable motion?

Forgot to put, bios says ~2280 rpm for cpu fan (the pump_

No, the pump itself is in the CPU block on most all in one liquid coolers. But you might hear it / feel the block vibrating if it's working at all.

It might be temperature related since it's quickly shutting down. So the pump could be to blame.
