Personally I love the AKG k240 mkii's, but if that's not your style then I'd recomend the ATH-M50x's

Thanks for the suggestion about the mic will definitely do that. Which would you suggest for headphones? I don't know anything about headphones lol

If you're looking for an all-in-one solution, the Sennheiser G4me One gets my vote.

However, if you're willing to use a separate microphone, there are a ton of viable options for headphones. One pair that I certainly wouldn't consider viable, are the Audio-Technica M50x's. They receive way too much praise for what they are, and they also aren't very good for gaming.

where do you want more focus in the sound? Bass? Treble? Mids? Bass and treble? And so on.

It's a decent microphone. I prefer the Boom Pro Microphone from V-moda, but it requires your headphones to utilize removable a 3.5 mm plug. Or, for you to modify your headphones to make it work.

So, my suggestions would be…

Sennheiser HD 558 with the Mod Mic

Philips SHP 9500 with the Boom Pro Microphone.

Hey, sound is subjective, he can pick his poison

True, but sound preferences has nothing to do soundtstage, when the headphone is capable of only narrow soundstage (like the M50X), it's normally not recommended for gaming where a wider soundstage helps with perception of space, depth and accuracy. I've auditioned the M50X and while the bass is impressive, mids is muddied to hell. I'm NOT saying it cannot be used for gaming, I'm sure many do game with it, it's just not ideal. Open cans are more suitable as they're airier with wider soundstage (generally). My preference is for open cans for gaming though I do use my ATH-A900X LTD and Alpha Dog for gaming (for when I find the environment around me to be noisy) or my Denons (semi open or semi closed....depends on whether you're a 'glass is half empty or half full' kinda person:D)
