Cores for Virtual Reality

First time long time,

I'm looking into building a PC (mostly for VR) I'll be definitely using a GTX 1080 but I can't decide on a Motherboard/CPU.  My hang up is that I can't seem to find any Information on wether or not more cores will be beneficial for the VR platform. If anyone can help out with some Info it would be greatly appreciated..

for a 1080 a 6600k should be fine but go no higher than the i7-6700k, 6 and 8 cores aren't worth it for gaming right now :) (because they cost more)

6600k for 1 1080

6700k for 2 1080s

Thanks Mikat,

so a Z170 chipset should be fine for the future of VR ?

VR isn't really any different to mainstream gaming its usage other than the fact its a lot more indy games as a percentage and tends to favour less cores that are faster. But I suspect in time we will see that come out similar to the mainstream gaming market where the 6600k/6700k has a small advantage of the 5820k as more games favour faster quad cores to slower 6 cores.
