Hey,

my PSU just died and I was wondering which PSU you would recommend me. I'd like something very quiet. Also my old one is 750W, which might be bit of an overkill. Do you think 600W+ would be enough?

Specs:

Sapphire R9 390 overclocked

i5 3570k overclocked

8GB RAM

2SSD + 1HDD

bunch of fan

cheap WLAN card

asus xonar dx

5900X

MSI MEG X570 Unify

32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance

RTX 3080

Dark Base Pro 900

Corsair RM1000i

I'd recommend my PSU, the EVGA 650 P2 (3rd from the top)

It's hard to find noise info on PSU's, not many reviewers bother. Tomshardware is one of the few.

I think there were about 2-3 sites that reviewed the noise of the 650 P2, others didn't have comparison charts though.

850 T2 is overkill. The RM550x isn't as good as the 650 P2.

There may be things quieter than what's on this list, but I don't know how to find them, and they can't be that much quieter.

Result-36-36_Average_Noise_Output_w_600.

Most quality power supplies have the feature where the fan is turned off below certain percentage of load (40% for my AX860 for example). I have tried out having the fan on constantly, though I could not hear any difference. The PSU fan does not spin very fast.

Get a good quality power supply (EVGA G2, P2 series for example) and you're good to go.

i was looking here: https://www.quietpc.com/powersupplies and I like the Be quiet PSU because they are cheaper than EVGA 650 P2. Do you have any experience with Be quiet PSUs?

Most be Quiet! PSUs are ok but the EVGA is definitely better. Take a long hard gander at the Corsair RMi, however, as that would easily be my personal recommendation for you.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

well, the Be Quiet! is 30% cheaper than the mentioned EVGA or Corsair PSUs. Is it actually worth it/is there any noticeable difference? I have the money to pay a bit extra but that doesnt mean that I will pay extra for nothing :)

It's not a bad PSU so if it's a lot less expensive then I might grab it.

None of those is actually a good unit. Are the Corsair and EVGA drastically more expensive?
