Won't Power On

My computer won't start even after trying all the steps in the thread talking about power problems, I don't have an OS installed yet but it will be 64-bit, this is the only real detail that I can give, I don't know why it won't start up at all.

I assume you have tried re-seating:

 

CPU, RAM

 

Confirmed Plugin of all power connectors.

 

Is this a Brand new build?

yes, it is new, it's my first build

Are/Is the

- PSU turned on

- CPU fan in CPU fan slot

- Front panels connected properly

Most boards have at least one LED on them. I don't think I have seen one without it. 

 

Have you tried to boot it without the GPU installed?

Have you tried shorting the power switch pins? (basically to rule out the power switch itself.)

 

can you test a different PSU? or test the PSU in another system?

 

If you have confirmed that all of your power hookups are correct and the PSU works. Then I'm going to guess that your Mobo is DOA.

If you have confirmed that all of your power hookups are correct and the PSU works. Then I'm going to guess that your Mobo is DOA.

I can't try a different PSU or try it in another computer as I don't have another of either, how do I short out the pins?

Use a screwdriver or paperclip (anything metal) and bridge the connection between the two power switch pins. 

 

Do you have a buddy that you could use his system to test the PSU?

possibly but not soon, do I have it plugged in and switch on when I short the pins?

...yes... all you are doing is by-passing the front panel power switch.

I had it plugged in, switch on, and touched a flathead to both pins and nothing happened, I did it for a second, and 5 seconds

Then I would be looking at either dead PSU or dead mobo.

As mentioned above. Try a different known working PSU in your system. And/or test your PSU in another known working system.
