When I have my headset connected to my front ports I get popping. When I have it connected to my rear I get a buzzing noise when I move my mouse.

I am running Windows 10. Im using integrated audio. I have updated the audio drivers. As far as whats happening on the rear ports, I have read it could just be interference from other components. Any other ideas? Oh Im using the HyperX Cloud Headset by the way.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

If you get popping, your headset cable may be damaged. Try moving the cable around while it's plugged in and a sound is playing.

Its not the cable when it doesnt have the same issue on the back ports. Plus I tested it with my phone and it works fine.

Strange. Sorry, that's all I had. I hope you get the problem solved.

Is it just with that headset or with any sound device (other headphones, speakers, etc.)?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

My recommendation would be to try plugging the headset into a small USB sound card of some sort, like this one.

http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8

It's cheap, and for diagnostic purposes, would be great.  If it comes back clear, your problem is that your built-in soundcard is crap, or has too much interference around it.  Either way, an external audio solution is your best bet if that's the case.

If it still doesn't work proper with the additional audio card, then the problem lies within the headset itself.

I havent tested it with other devices. I really dont use anything besides my headset. This headset is relativity new as I got it for Xmas. Plus as I stated it works fine with my phone. Ive seen issues concerning Windows 10 and audio issues, but they are from 2015. So Im sure by now that realtek and MS got that shit fixed. Unless they suck.

I'm wondering because it clearly isn't an issue with the headset itself, but I don't know if it is an issue with an interaction between that headset and the PC, or something specifically with the PC alone.

well I think it might have solved itself some how. At least for now. Of course I heard a reboot can fix the issue temporally. Im might just break down and get an external DAC at some point.
