Hi
I bought a USB soundcard for my recently bought netbook since its onboard soundcard is pretty bad.
The soundcard that I bought is a Ewent EW3751 R1.
I'm testing it on my other laptop now and it's terrible.
The sound is shallow, a bit high pitched and not much bass.
How is it possible that my laptops onboard soundcard is so much better than this external one?
I don't get it. Do I realy have to buy a 100$ soundcard to get normal decent audio quality?
Am I missing something here?

Do you guys think that this soundcard (https://www.bol.com/nl/p/creative-soundblaster-play-2-geluidskaart-zwart/9200000029940468/) would provide good/decent audio quality or would I need a more expensive one?

Thanks,
Anon356

that creative USB soundcard is bad and I mean really bad, I own it for my laptop because my laptop has shit audio, but that thing is even worse and on about 90% of them the mic will not work. Do you need mic input? If no get schiit fulla or something else I recommend in my post about amps and dacs in my signature. If yes, I can't help you.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Thank you both for your answers.

No I don't need mic input. Just normal stereo output.

Dackzy, I've read the article in your signature. And since not all of those are available from where I live. I think I'll go for an Audioquest DragonFly.

https://www.bol.com/nl/p/audioquest-dragonfly-black/9200000058165810/?country=BE&Referrer=ADVNLGOO002013-G-22404645884-S-181299932684-9200000058165810

Would this be an OK choice? Would I be able to get normal/decent audio quality with this?

Also, it needs to work with Win10. And I've heard that a lot of USB audio adapters with custom drivers have problems with Win10. If you have any idea if this would be a problem please let me know.

Thanks,

Though compared to their cables it's a steal.

I'm sorry for wasting your time guys..
I just tested the cheap USB soundcard, which I said was bad, on my stereo, and the quality is like it should be.

So I'm thinking its probably because of the TRRS connector on my headphones. They probably don't entirely fit in the port.
For my stereo I use a TRS connector and it works perfectly fine.

Still , thank you for all your help.
