Virus on windows xp help

My friend gave me his dads old computer to fix because there was a startup virus that always started up when he logs in. This virus program takes his whole screen up and makes his computer unusable. I have literally tried everything I know. Please someone help. picture of problem:

Well you could try and boot on safemode, but if the virus made it past the security program before im sure it wouldn't detect it again. I would reccomend re-installing the operating system.

windows will have most of the drivers

i dont know if they would have windows 7 support. But if it was made for vista i would just try those drivers

I'd say your only option is to either re-install windows xp or go up to 7 and just use the windows vista drivers that are avaliable on the website
