Just OCed my CPU

So yeah just OCed my CPU to 4Ghz
its my first time so yeah :3

-Edit i just noticed i bumped Core Voltage to Static so just ignore that lol

Any feedback would be great on how i did for my first time, all i did was turn the Multiplier up and the Core Voltage up to 1.080
All other settings are default

Im to scared tbh
Walked around in circles wondering if i should push the voltage up that little amount.

Default clock was 3.6Ghz so .4 boost is all right and it sits around 60-65c

I set mine at 1.350V, so that should be optimal to OC

By the way what's your CPU cooler?

Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 but with only 1 fan cause stupid me got the high profile RAM but was to lazy to tack it back and swap it

Well I think you can push to about 4.5 ~ 4.6 GHz here at 1.350V

Don't try to fry your CPU there, just do it until you get BSOD

If you do any video rendering or other stuff that locks your CPU at 100% for long periods of time, don't go further than 1.3V.

yeah im just going to leave it at 4Ghz
seems stable so far will keep an eye on it over time but temps are good and im happy with it

Can you explain a bit more about hitting 100% CPU on load for max amount of time while Overclocked?   Does it means in that situation we should increase Vcore Voltage or what? im confused

i was just using the Intel xtu stress test for a couple mins but will keep an eye over it over time

What I'm saying is that if you do stuff that is very CPU intensive, using voltages over 1.3, it puts a lot of stress on your CPU and you might see CPU degradation over time.

Don't be scared dude, I pumped 1.47v through my 6700K to achieve 5Ghz, sure I only kept it there for the length of a benchmark (although the CPU was surprisingly happy at that amount of V) but nowadays you'd need to make a pretty fundamental mistake to destroy your CPU (like hitting the 2 key instead of the 1 key for example).

 

If you know the safe range and you stick to it (generally for Intel 1.3v on Air and 1.35v on Water is a safe limit) then the worst thing that can happen is a bsod or system freeze.

 

BTW I run @4.7Ghz 1.375v 24/7.
