First I'll quickly reply your question: Be online while re-installing and click you don't have the key when prompted. It'll grab the key from UEFI and validate it online.

About the Magic Jelly Bean and such, the key in windows registry isn't the same as you originally entered and that key won't be accepted during installation. I can't vouch for bought copies of Win 10 but, for all upgrade licenses, you can still read a key from the registry but you cannot use it to install Windows. You know, if you don't have the original COA from 7/8.1 or the key typed down somewhere and think you can replace it with what you get from registry, it's not gonna fly.

For what it's worth, you can read it from the registry of the Win 7 or 8.1 and use it to clean install Win 10 ver.1511 and up.
