I was trying to copy music that I have on my computer, onto my phone. I connected my phone via usb and made sure that it is set to media file transfer. I can see the Phone in File Explorer but when I try and open it, File Explorer crashes. Not only does it crash, but it crashes my desktop aswell. The screen goes black and the only thing(s) that remain are opened tabs. I cannot access anything else, not even the start menu. Ctrl + Alt + Delete does work properly and it will open the task manager.

I am new to the android ecosystem and am not entirely sure if I am doing something wrong or if there is a bug.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Out of my experiance with an, Nokia C7 w/ OS: Symbian aswell as Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and S6 - which are all android: once it shows up in the file explorer, it is a knowen device and hence should work properly on your system to do with it as you please.

It might be that the USB cable is damaged, which you are using for the filetransfer.

It might be that you are using an USB 3.0 or higher port while your phone only supports USB 2.0

It might be that you do need the software installed, for Samsung devices that would be "Samsung Kies" or "Smart switch".

It might be that the driver installation for the device did not work properly -> connect phone -> open windows device manager -> choose phone -> deinstall drivers -> unplugg phone -> plug phone in again -> drivers should re-install.

Could be that your PC Antivirus does not like the phone, or the AV on the phone does not like your PC (if you even have one installed)

Could be that you have one of these cancer motherboard drivers like Asus AI-Charger installed, that usualy do more harm or nothing than good - if so: remove.

@Nord or quote me if you want me to reply back. I don't necessarily check back or subscribe to every topic.
