Ignore the part about the poll .   For some reason it's not working

There's a reason more people buy aftermarket graphics cards rather than reference graphics cards(other than price and earlier availability). It's a much better choice to use an aftermarket cooler

Think of reference GPU coolers like a stock CPU coolers. Stock CPU coolers get the job done, but don't work so well. Getting an aftermarket cooler will give you better temps.

Paying $100 more for a reference "Founders Edition" is nothing short of retarded.

You're spending more money, for a shittier product.

Just wait for superior, cheaper, aftermarket coolers.

what about the 970. They are almost the same price. reference and non reference

You will be able to find all sort of non-reference designs from Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, etc. a little while after the launch of the 1070 and for a standard case design they will provide better cooling. The Founders Edition is a $100 tax on SFF builders that need a blower.

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.

It's still dumb to do if you can get a non-reference for just a little bit more or the same price.

Just not $100 more for Founders Edition levels of dumb.

First off, don't make the same mistake I did, buying parts right now. Wait until the 1070/1080 come out. If you can be a little bit more patient, wait until computex is over. Most of the board partners will likely announce their aftermarket coolers on the 1070/1080.

The reason people buy aftermarket coolers is because they are generally stronger than the reference and thus produce less noise, by not needing to spin their fans as fast, if at all with some.
