Most modern laptops will have SATAIII, but they will never reach those speeds due to the use of hard drives. If you want to be able to utilize the port to its limit, I suggest getting a laptop with an SSD, or replacing the hard drive with an SSD.

x2. Get an SSD (or m.2) if you can for your primary drive. And a bigger SSD or HDD instead of the optical drive. If you're on a budget, just get a laptop with a big HDD and then buy an SSD to replace it. You can get a hard drive caddie for super cheap on Amazon/eBay to replace the optical drive and put the original HDD in there if you need the storage.
