Intel Core i7 5820K has no integrated videocard. So. I need videocard.

It has to be able to play 2560x1440 HDMI at 144Hz and a tad more than that*. So two ports of HDMI (probably latest, I'm not an expert).

Nvidia/AMD, I don't care. The cheapest the better, but of course things above are minimum it must do. Also, it would be nice if it worked for more than 6 months.

Anybody any hints?

* - I will need it for very light photo editing. I will need to render 1440p 144Hz of low-quality video-games (pixelated, something like Undertale or alike). It will need to handle programs like Unity3D (game engine software). It will need to guaranteed smoothly play 1440p at 144FPS. OpenGL 4.0+ of course. And that's about it.

GTX1080 is probably the best option then.

Not available atm but should be for sale soon.

Prices are nicely listed here:

still maybe way overpriced for his budget and what he wants to do, light gaming you don't need a 1080 for that so i suggest a 1070 or maybe a 980 for now. this will probably match what he wants to do.

maybe they are way overshooting but the 1070 will be in his price range i think (we will see how the gtx 1070 performs in benchmarks) otherwise he could very well go with a gtx 980 or something like that.

"his" is me. I think 780 could already do that easily... you are talking about 1070 and 1080. Are there no easier solutions? It has to be side-card, not ultimate solution. it is there because its requirement, not because its great.

You cannot get a 4k 144 FPS videoplayback with less than a 970( If it is even possible). If viedeo was at 30 FPS and 4k, almost any 6XX or higher NVIDIA GPU will give you a cheap solution.

2560x1440 @ 144Hz is a lot to ask, there is a reason why people with such screens have usually a 980ti/fury X or an SLI config.

Don't underestimate how much you need for that but whatever...

Oh yea if anybody can find benchmarks of a mid-range card or older high-end cards reaching 144fps with 2560x1440 in a unity3D game i might change my mind.

A GTX 960 should be fine... There aren't any cards with two HDMI ports that I can think of, but you can't "combine" HDMI ports anyway if that's what you meant to do, not unless the monitor supports it specifically with a PbP mode. Even then, it's much simpler to just use DisplayPort, which can do 1440p 144 Hz with a single cable, all 1440p 144 Hz monitors will have that.

Cheap, powerful, fulfills requirement. Great. GTX 960 4GB that is.

1440p let it be then

But are you sure you will reproduce 4k video at 144FPS? YT only supports 30 FPS at 4k... and don't know why do you want that...

If you are nice with it. you can get almost whatever you want from medium ends graphics card to high end

You can't even get 2560x1440 144FPS videoplayback with any 9XX card, the decoder on it can't handle it, h264 can't go that far.

You can let it be decoded by the cpu but i don't think it can handle that.

h265 however can handle such things so if you want to have smooth video playback, a 1070 or 1080 is i think the only option.

Don't know about AMD fury, that might be an option too, don't know.
