Zenfone 2 screen flickering

So sometimes my screen on my zenfone flickers, sometimes it happens after I close an app or wake it from sleep. I'm not sure yet exactly what resolves it as I'll lock it and let it sit for a few seconds or I'll turn the brightness down then back up again and eventually the flickering stops. A forum on a similar topic said it was because the phone couldn't decide weather to use the GPU or CPU for rendering. I turned on an option that forced the GPU to handle ALL rendering tasks but it happened again today. Any thoughts? 

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

It's not, once I get myself another phone I'll root this one. I'm also pretty new to android, I switched from iOS in April
