What a steal!

My city's electronics recycling event was last week and I always go with a couple of friends, but thats beside the point... First think I pulled from this huge pile of stuff is a (wait for it) Dell Precision T5500! I'm running a T5400 right now and even with my new Gigabyte GTX 770 2gb I still cannot get 60fps in GTA V. (specs in signature) I'm almost positive that it's the older hardware that's holding me back because my friend basically has the same T5400 I do but he has a GTX 960 and even on lowest settings neither of us can get 60fps in GTA V. This T5500 had a Xeon E5504 and 4gb of ECC DDR3 and I upgraded it to a Xeon W5580 and 16gb ECC DDR3. Would this be enough to get 60fps in GTA V? I plan on adding the riser card and a second cpu in the future.

Your CPU + RAM are likely an issue, but a 770 isn't going to do amazingly well either way.

The W5580 is basically equal to an i7-960 and the RAM is running at 1333MHz.

Here is a video comparing the 770 and the 960. They perform about the same.
GTA is a tough game to max and requires both a strong GPU and CPU.

I know my GPU is fine... I just want to know about CPU an memory. I don't care about high settings because the game looks good on any settings. I just want 60fps. With my current PC I can't get over 45fps even on lowest settings.

I can't say for certain if you'll hit 60, but you will benefit from the added threads with the w80 on GTA.
4gb of RAM is considered to be under performing and you would see great gains from going 8 onward.

When I found it it had 4GB and an E5504 and I upgraded to 16gb and a w5580 but I don't have the CPU yet. I plan on adding a 2nd CPU in the future which will put me at 8 cores and 16 threads clocked at 3.2 base and 3.4 boost.

If you are running 1080p at medium to high settings then you should be able to get 60fps, but it will be alot better then dual lga 771, and the seconds cpu probabbly isn't worth it if all you do is game as games cannot use 16 threads yet.

I only do gaming and some light multitasking too so I probably don't need a 2nd CPU but i'll probably get it anyways just to have it.
