Crossfire troubleshooting

Go to solution Solved by kagstrom2100,

I just seem to have fixed the problem!!!!

So I the idea of playing around with the settings in the crimson, turned all the settings off and that made the game work!!

Then I tried turning on the settings one by one, and it seems that the culprit is Frame Pacing, turned that off and everything seems to work fine. Had some other problems though, after restarting my computer and doing the same test again the game froze with a sound loop, to fix that I had to pull out the second card, start the computer, then put the second card back in. Not everything finally works :D

Just go into Gaming -> Global settings -> Frame Pacing = off

Really hope it works for you too!

Hey everyone, I have trouble running my r9 280x and my HD 7970 in crossfire since a couple of months. My crossfire set-up worked flawlessly for maybe 1 year before I started having problems.

Currently I cannot launch any game when crossfire is enabled, most of the time the screen will just become completely black and I will hear the audio. Some games just make my computer freeze when crossfire is active.

I'm pretty sure this is not a problem with either of my graphics cards because both work perfectly fine when not in crossfire.

I tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times without any success. I'm currently out of ideas to what I could do to fix the problem!

Thank you for your help!

How have you checked both cards individually? Additionally, it could be a busted crossfire bridge.

Have you tried updating drivers or made sure you're currently running on most recent? Guru3d make a utility called Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Use that to uninstall your graphics drivers, then reinstall most recent version and try again.

I am whatever I am.

I have exactly the same problem!

Got two Asus R9 280x, I too tested both cards individually and both run fine. As soon as I run a game like BF4 in fullscreen the screen freezes but the sound keeps going.

Though I never get the black screen. I've tried both the latest 16.5.2.1 and a older 16.3.2 driver, but the got the same problem.

What power supply do you have? I was afraid that my 750 W wasn't enough...

Also can you remember what driver made it stop working?

I also have a 750W power supply but i'm pretty sure this is not the problem, under load I never pull more than 400-450W from the wall.

As for the drivers... I really don't remember! It's been a while tho at least a couple of months but I never got around trying to fix it until now!

Glad to know i'm not the only person having this problem!

Yeah, I drawing 750 W at load sound like a lot, so I'm probably somewhere are 400-450 too.

Yeah, I'm really glad to that I'm not alone!

I though it was a recent drive issue, but if yours hasen't been working for awhile then maybe that's not it :/

Wow!! amazing dude thank you! I'll try this later! If this really works I will name my first born after you! ;)

Have a nice evening!

Haha :P

Well it didn't seem to work in all game, in some games like Fallout 4 it seems to still crash :/ So had to disable crossfire for that game, but at least it worked better! :)
