Hi guys I'm planning on purchasing a Gtx 1070 when available but I built a PC with Intel sandy bridge back in 2012 I've had it almost 5 years and I need to know if it's worth upgrading a old platform or not with a Gtx 1070 my specs: I5 2500k 8gb ram and a r9 290 any help and advice would be greatly appreciated thanks. Or would I need to go skylake

I've got a 2500 non k, same ram, and a veggie HD7750. I guess check what your CPU usage is peaking at during the games you play. My GPU is a major bottleneck so I dunno the limits of my sandy bridge at least, but if your frame rates are reasonable at the moment, then it should be fine. Upping the ram could be a worthwhile investment, though.
