not even showing up in the bios, checked twice

Did you check that power and sata is plugged in securely. Hav you tried using a different sata port. Try using the sata cable from the CD/DVD burner and see if it detects the hard drive.

Try switching around which port the drive is connected to, as well as switching the cable from the ODD to see if there's an issue with the SATA cable. Make sure SATA power is plugging in securely as well.

alright. so i swapped the cables. it now shows it in the bios, but still doesnt show it under my computer. but i found the drive by computer management. i just dont know how to partition a drive

right click on computer and press manage. You can partition the drive under disk management. There are numerous videos online on how to do it.

Hi there :)

First - make sure the cables are well plugged in (both the SATA and the power) so you don't have future problems with the drive disconnecting from the system due to loose cables.

Then check if the drive is sitting as unallocated and initialized in Disk Management. http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=dwIAQr
Once there all you have to do is initialize it (if it's not) and then partition and format it .

You should be good to go :)
