Help Please GPU issue

So I have this 7970 that I am trying to put into my system. I go to uninstall Nvidia drivers and it prompts me to restart. I do so and WIndows 10 automatically downloads the latest drivers. SO, I try to shut down after prompting me to restart and I plug the HDMI into the I/O on the back of the motherboard. I no longer get POST and I have one long beep. I am using a gigabyte board (which uses the AWARD Bios). Next I tried to uninstall the drivers again and do a shut down. I put in my new card and sure enough I get the beep code and no POST. It seems as if I cannot escape the 750ti because neither the onboard or new GPU are working. What do I need to do? please help!
