I am not to sure if I should buy the new cards coming out soon, I currently have 2 XFX Radeon HD 7970, maybe replace them with 2 nvidia 1080. What would you guys say?

Do you feel the need for more performance? If the answer is yes, upgrade. If you are currently getting the fps you desire then 1080 SLI would be 1500$ down the drain

Well if you can afford it ... why not xD

Surely 2x GTX 1080 will perform much better than your current cards.

But do you need so much power?

I don't know are you personally getting them or are you sticking with what you have? I am currently running 120fps on all my games without any issues.

120fps in every game without issues? Why upgrade then? Save your money for the Pascal 1080 Ti or the Vega 490X

Buy a 1070 unless you can afford the gtx 1080. But 1070 and 1080 almost perform the same, the 1080 has GDDR5X Graphics Memory and the 1070 is GDDR5. But they will both play games at 60 fps or whatever your hertz is on your monitor.

I used to run 3 way 7970 and it was about 750 watts then adding the reset came close to 1090watt and it was also on sale.

I suppose you could swap out the 2 7970 for a single 1080 and reduce that power draw. It'll also have more performance if you decide to play non-potato games (in terms of 3D graphics). Wait a bit for board partners to launch their coolers. Once they do, get one you find pretty.

But DEFINITELY don't get 1080 SLI. You don't seem like you'd benefit from it.

One thing, would you not want a SSD in that machine or is that velociraptor doing good for you? :D

(probably getting a single 1080 is enough to boost the performance to what you want so...yeah)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I currently was thinking of going raid 0 on 2 SSDs i have laying around, 2 1TB Samsung Evo 840. Will it make a difference if I go SSD over my mechanical drives? I am afraid of data loss.

Fast. Like, REALLY fast. And it'll likely make the PC quieter as well.
