Over the weekend I helped a friend of a friend put together his first PC. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dYjDCJ
We had an issue with getting his cards, two GTX 970's, to run in SLI which was also a new experince for me.
When we went into the Nvidia settings and changed the option to run in SLI, it still showed it as disabled after applying and closing.
The SLI bridge was a three way. Does he need to get a two SLI bridge?
We didn't update the GPU drivers so could that be the issue? (I was pressed for time)
If anyone has a good SLI guide, that would be helpful too.

Probably need to use the 2 way sli as they have different pin outs.

If that is the case, might you know of a long, extended two way SLI bridge?
The board he has allows for 16x16x if the GPUs are in the first and fourth slot.
A normally two way SLI bridge wont reach that. I'm looking for one now.

There is a pretty good guide on Nvidia's website:

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/sli

I would stick with a 2 way bridge.  I don't have any scientific proof that 3 way plug wouldn't work, but its one of those things that you just say, "Why take the chance"

I would also recommend using the DDU uninstaller as well.

I didn't think about that. I'll swing that and the long 2 way SLI bridge I just found over to him for suggestions.
