Internet not working on 1 computer

Go to solution Solved by I am an SSD,

Thats the fault of your motherboard's ethernet port

So I woke up my computer this morning and the internet is not working. I checked and the network connection was disabled, I tried enabling it, but it would still stay disabled.

The internet is working fine on the computer I'm posting this on, which is connected to the same router.

I restarted my PC, and now the connection is gone. I've tried uninstalling the Intel lan driver, and installing the one that came with my motherboard. I also tried using the latest driver from the asus website.

I tried another Ethernet cable, still nothing. The motherboards Ethernet port has two LEDs. Looking at the manual the SPEED LED is a solid orange indicating 100mb connection, while the ACT/LINK LED is off, indicating no link.

When I go to device manager the network adaptor "Inter(R) Ethernet Connection (2) 1218-V" has a ! symbol and says  "The device cannot start. (code 10)" .

My motherboard is a Asus z97-AR and I am running windows 10

in system info it says my BIOS version/date is "American Megarends Inc. 1205, 7/7/2014

SMBOIS Version: 2.8

Any suggestions would be awesome.

Are you getting an IP address?

Can you ping your loopback IP address?

Can you ping your home router?

this probably aint the solution but my friend was messing around with windows and the internet protocols because his 8 port switch was not working with his pc but was fine using other devices, he did something to do with winsock and his pc said it has connection and the lights was flashing on his network port on his pc and on the switch but he had no internet connection so could be that??

winsock is something to do with internet and ip protocols

My speakers dont even fit on or under my desk...PA's FTW

In ipconfig it just says media disconnected

it does not show a IP adress

So i'm guessing my only options are to RMA the motherboard or get a network card?

Depends on which is more convenient....Can you do without the board for a few days? But network cards are usually really cheap these days...heck even buying a used one wouldnt matter, unlike SSDs and stuff....

Please vote for Donald Trump. I am out of sitcoms to watch.

When lyfe gives you HDDs, make SSDs

I'll probably buy a network card, it will be quicker that way. Thanks for the help.
