will you be gaming on all 3 monitors or just 1?

what resolution do you prefer?

do you require colour precision in your editing work?

edit:

i would get something like this for your budget

two monitors only, one for gaming and two for working

your budget doesnt allow 3 monitors for gaming as you lack the gpu horsepower to push AAA games at that res with the setup you can get with your budget

one IPS one TN panel, good for colour accuracy and response time, depending on your needs

also, i would wait until gtx 1070 launches so the current gen cards' prices may drop. even if it's just slightly

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

depends on whether you want faster storage or faster gpu

do keep in mind that you can always add an SSD later

both build comes with two ips panel for colour accuracy (it was cheaper than it's tn alternative) and one free-sync panel for gaming

again, i recommend you wait until the new gpu launches before purchasing a gpu as prices may drop

Would micro ATX be the best option if he wants to later on upgrade?

what would he be upgrading though?

mATX do offer slightly upgradability if he does plan to do so

I just mean, usually when a person gets a pic they plan to keep that pic and upgrade each part as time goes on. Would a ATX setup be easier to upgrade than a micro ATX? Or does it not make much difference?

Thank you.

off topic, but i'll answer it anyway `-`

the only main reason to get ATX boards now for most people is for the looks

since we have almost everything an average user needs on the motherboard already (audio, networking, usb ports and what not)

the expansion lanes are mostly used for wifi cards and gpu only nowadays

and an mATX offers 4 expansion lanes, of which two would be taken up by the gpu, so you still have 2 lanes to use for expansion

which is normally more than what most people needs

I got the powercolor R9 390 and the fans not spinning up until they need to is pretty useful. The card is heavy though, watch out for sagging.
