@aneil1998 yes both have 1tb.   @Electronics Wizardy They are both Alienware 17.

Screen Quality seems to be good with the 4k panels that AW uses so that's why I boiled it down to these two.

If you have the money id get the one with the faster cpu, You can always upgrade the ssd later.

First Post!  Hello Everyone!

I need help deciding if spending an extra $350-400 is worth it.

I'm looking at two 4k laptops with similar specs. I'm going to leave out the brand names and provide the differences.

When I was searching for a laptop, I had three things in mind.  Gaming, watching hi res video and some photo editing.

I planned to play Overwatch, Unreal Tournament and The Division.  I do not plan to play above 1080p unless the game can run at 35 fps or above on 1440p or 4k.  Medium to high or ultra settings are fine to me when playing above 1080p.

Anyways here are the differences

The cheaper laptop has

I7-6700hq

GTX 980 4gb

256 gb of SSD

The more expensive laptop has

I7-6820hk

GTX 980 8gb

128 gb of SSD

So what does everyone think?  Is the cpu, the extra VRAM but smaller SSD worth $350-400?

Thank you in advance.  I plan to buy one of these laptops very soon.

Does the more expensive have an HDD? If not, can you add one? If you cannot add a HDD or it odesn't come with one, then get the cheaper option

Rig: Thermaltake Urban S71 | MSI Z77 G45-Gaming Intel Core i5 3570K (4.4Ghz @ 1.4v) CM Hyper 212 EVO | Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB | MSI GTX 660 | Kingston 120GB SSD | Seagate 3TB HDD | EVGA 850W B2
