Hi!

So I recently built a new PC, having previously purchased pre-builds from best buy and I need help with installing the OS. I haven't bought anything yet, but I am planning on buying a code for windows 10 and putting that on.

However, I don't know how or if that would work. Do I somehow just load it onto a USB and transfer it that way? Where do I input the code? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I take it when you say "buy a code" you're taking about purchasing a product key correct? If that's the case then you can just download the appropriate version of Windows 10 (Home or Pro) from Microsoft. Just google Windows 10 Home ISO download and download the Media Creation Tool from MS and follow the prompts. With that tool you can either install it directly to the PC or download it to a USB drive and do it that way.

Basically all you have to do is download the windows media creation tool onto a 4 gb (or larger) flash drive from a working computer, and then boot from that flash drive on the other computer by entering the bios/uefi. From there the rest is fairly self explanatory by just following the instructions that are on the screen (the computer prompts you to enter the code during the installation process).

If you need extra help there are plenty of videos on youtube to help :)
