Hi all,

This is my first post here, and I am getting back into the fun world of PC building, haven't done a build since LGA775 was current :(

Based on some research I have put together a build list and I was hoping to get some comments.

my part picker is found here:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/BdRRNG

P.S.  I forgot to mention the cooling is being achieved by custom water loop, parts from EKWB.

Damn, how much do you have to spend... It´s not what you´d say a bad build, but possibly not worth it, and especially since considering the new cards are just around the corner.

Hello there, and welcome to the forums!

Before I give you any comments, can you tell us:

Your budget

Your Location (ie. country)

Resolution you will work and/or game at

Your use cases (gaming, server, HTPC, video editing etc)

The specs of your old PC.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

Only yours, you don't shitpost on the same level that we can, mainly because this thread is finally dead and should be locked.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Considering the new cards are around the corner, either wait for 1070-1080 or polaris-VEGA

Don't buy right now. Wait for the gtx 1080 to launch which should be faster than 2 980TIs. Also your mobo is probably overkill and the 6700k doesn't come with a stock cooler so get something for that.

I made some changes: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/KYk7rH

Ignore the gtx 980. Replace them with a 1080 (or 2) when it comes out.

I thought I would get a lot of "wait for the 1080"

I was able to purchase the card I have currently for a very reasonable price, and it includes a water block connection.  As I am doing a custom water loop for cooling, I thought it would be a simple way to include the GPU's in the water loop for almost no additional cost.  I am not opposed to getting a 1080 or two when they are released, however it will depend on the sticker price.

Plans for the system:

Budget: Well that is up for debate.  Want to keep everything under $4-5K

Location: Canada.

Resolution: Not really fixed on this but will probably buy a 4K g-sync monitor.

Use: Mostly email and YouTube watching.  Mainly building because I am bored.  I wont be doing a ton of gaming however the gaming I do will mainly be done at 1080 - to 4K depending on the title.

My previous build:

QX9650

8GB DDR2 ram

EVGA nForce 780i SLI motherboard

(2) 660ti in SLI

I have the savage SSD simply for the looks, I picked the (2) samsung 950's because I want to take advantage of 2 NVME drives in Raid 0.  I agree the Gaming G1 mobo is overkill, but it has the functions I am looking for so I will keep it.

Not sure, probably just keeping it around... it is in one of my favorite cases.  From a dell XPS 730i

If you end up just letting it collect dust, can I have the CPU, Mobo, and Ram? I need to make my sister her own computer so I can actually have some time on mine.
