16Gb memory: TridentZ 3600Mhz CL 15 or 3200Mhz CL 14 ??

Hi! :)

What are your thoughts on this.... Going for 16GB Ram memory, which would you rather get of these two:

- GSkill TridentZ DDR4 3600Mhz Cl15 2x8GB

- GSkill Tridentz DDR4 3200Mhz Cl14 2x8GB

I know the 3600 cl15 is the faster one... but would there really be a noticeable difference?? What do you think?

The 3200 cl14 offers one set of 2x16GB, should that be something that matters..

( Not going to buy either.. just curios.. for future reference etc. )

There won't be to much of a difference, the 3600 c15 kit is better of course, but in games & most applications you most likely won't notice a difference outside of synthetic testing.

Stuff:  i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz  |  Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda

I agree.. If price were to be considered, the difference is day and night.. you would probably get the 32GB 3200 cl14 for the same as 16gb 3600 cl15 (wild guess)

Kind of depends on use case scenario though. If you're into hardcore overclocking, these kits use "B" die Samsung memory chips, which overclock like absolute monsters.  B-Die is currently top dog DDR4 memory chip right now, and when overclocked, their performance can't be matched by any of the other DDR4 ram chips that are in other RAM sticks.

Some sticks are capable of 4133 12-11-11-28 1T timings, despite their XMP profiles being things like 16-16-16-36 2T at 3600 mhz.

You mean the entire TridentZ series or just the one/two mentioned in description?

My wild guess price guessing were base on that both were TridentZ :P

The ripjaws 8GB sticks that are 3200 c14, 3600 c15/c16, 3733 17-18-18, and a few others all contain these "b die" chips.

(This memory chip only comes on 8Gb or 16GB sticks, the 8GB sticks are single sided, and the 16GB are double sided)

So you say there are no difference from Ripjaws and TridentZ when they have similar specs (as you mentioned)? o.O

No sir, just a fancy heatspreader.

Did a quick search, you most certainly are very correct! :D Hah..
price difference here is 9USD on 3200Mhz CL14 16Gb tridentz/ripjaws. The fancy pants heat spreader is indeed a greater tech-porn factor.. (worth 9 USD? hmm) :x

I spent the extra for TridentZ just for the heatspreader, I ain't ashamed :P

Unless you do world-class overclocking competition, none of those would matter. Just get the cheapest timing you can afford.

ROG X570-F Strix AMD R9 5900X | EK Elite 360 | EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 64gb | Samsung 980 PRO
ROG Strix XG349C Corsair 4000 | Bose C5 | ROG Swift PG279Q

Logitech G810 Orion Sennheiser HD 518 |  Logitech 502 Hero

I know, not getting either :) I do neither have a money-tree in my garden to afford premium/high-priced stuff.. I find it nice to be informed about top tops anyway :D

I've got (recently bought) HyperX 2133Mhz 2x8GB Cl14 - Since it was the cheapest i could find :P
