Hey guys just planning a gaming/workstation build

thoughts and input on the build are appreciated

i will be gaming at qhd and can anyone tell me that if hook up another monitor will i have any performance drops when gaming on only one as i plan to get another monitor later

Here's the build (i am waitong fro custom boards 1080's so dont just start yelling at that)

any one have any suggestions for a dual monitor mount that just sits on the desk and not clamp down on it as i have a tempered glass desk thats about 1/2 cm thick and i dont want the thing to just crack and scatter all over the place in the middle of the night

tempered glass is just a pain the butt to clean off carpet (i speak from experience)

Will have better perfs, we don't even know how much better 1080 is from 1070 ATM, and 1070 SLI will beat one 1080.

Well, I'm afraid that's not enough information to give a good feedback on your build.

What is your budget?

More detailed info on your use case please.

And you're from US, right?

Do you have any old desktop? If yes, their specs.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Did you consider the Asus Maximus VIII Formula? Much more expensive but has some really nice lighting features.

I can't find it in pcpartpicker but Phanteks has an Evolv ATX Glass (PH-ES515ETG_BK) listed on their web site. Very nice side panel and good lighting features.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

A budget is still required. If you don't have one, at least give us a rough estimate of how much money you will be able to spend.

What kind of games do you play?

im not really a big fan of the tempered glass panel on the other side as (imo) the original window was plenty big and plus i plan on taking this to college and i really dont want the thing to like get scratched with a weird roommate or something but thanks for the suggestion and i personally like the hue + as it has a bit more of color customization and i am getting the kraken so i thought i'll get the hue+ as i dont want 2 pieces of software doing 2 things when i can have one doing 2 (my ocd is competely to be blamed here)

Alright then.

Here's my build recommendation without any peripherals, save the monitor.

Not exactly $4000, but more than adequate for your needs. Just let me know if an SSD boot drive is necessary.

VR is still a developing technology, so it's difficult to give a solid recommendation on the parts you should buy.

Still, this build meets the minimum VR spec, so you're fine. :)
