So I've been trying to install Ubuntu on my custom rig and dual boot in with W10. When I boot into the USB that i can install Ubuntu with, it gives me a text based startup install screen as opposed to the GUI I've seen several times in install videos. It's just a black boot screen with an Ubuntu logo and a few lines that say "Try Ubuntu before installing" or "install ubuntu" and when I select any of these options, the screen lags a little and goes black and then my monitor displays a "no signal" image although my pc is still on.

Ive tried the same process on my laptop and the install USB worked how it should, with a GUI and everything, so i dont know whats wrong. I have an MSI mobo with a legacy bios if that helps.

thanks!

its not 32 but pc is it?

The odd thing is it working with the laptop, perhaps try a different usb port on the pc.

The only other thing I can think of is the gpu/drivers being an issue, try the mobo video out or using the integrated graphics if you can.

Does the issue occur with the live os/try before install or is it only with the install option?
