Would like an opinion on a possible upgrade

ultra99

This is my current build: i5 4440, Asus H81-Plus mini-itx, 1x8gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600mhz, xfx Radeon 7950, Corsair 600 psu. My current components are pretty good and perform well, but I have a friend who asked me to help him buy used parts. He agreed to buy mine...so thought I could upgrade for my own build.

What do you guys think??

If you are going with that CPU save self some money and go with H170 mother board.

You cant over clock that Cpu. Why pay extra for something that your not going use on the board.

You would have to go with a K CPU to over clock.  if your happy with the CPU you have selected  I say go with the H mother board and save the money for GPU later on down the road.

You will see very performance increase with this. If you have to sell it you should buy used parts as well or spend a little more money.

Could you please elaborate?

You think I should go for a K cpu and a better motherboard?

I'm ok with my current gpu and psu, and I have ssd's and hdd's.

The 6500 and 4440 will have very similar performance as the turbo boost clock speed is only 300Mhz apart and Skylake doesn't vastly improve on the instructions per clock. You will get a 10-20% increase in raw power but it will not translate strongly into games. I would look at getting a 2600k at it should be much cheaper and perform a bit better. If you can find a good deal on an X79 board you can get very cheap 6-8 core Xeons with decent clock speeds around 3.5Ghz or a 3930k. Going with this option will also show a very small increase with games now but will do more with games made to utilise more cores.
