I just thought this was interesting, I've benchmarked all my SSDs and they really are improving the speed. The second one was benchmarked in a different PC without SATA 3 interface so it may actually be faster.

The first is my original Mushkin Chronos (non deluxe) 120gb. I have had it for almost 2 years and paid about 200 bucks for it. The second is the Samsung 830 120gb I bought last summer for about 100 bucks. The last is the OCZ Vector 240gb which was just over 200 bucks a few weeks ago. So the speed to performance ratio is definitely improving a LOT in my experience.

I was just posting my experiences with how much faster SSDs have gotten over the past 3 years... I guess that point didn't come through.

Ah yes, yes they did. Although, what I most, and I think we all should be, more interested in the non-sequential read and write speed.. like the 4K and a likes, basically small files performance, as this is what we use the most.

Also SSD durability in writes has increase dramatically since the first gen SSD's.

Now if you buy a synchronous MLC SSD (usually have a 5 year warranty), you can practically just trash them with writes, like if you had an HDD and they will pass (assuming no manufacture error, of course), well over 7-9 years. They are very durable.
