That's crazy. Considering you need to use the internet for research and what not, making students pay per MB is strange.

Better not use YouTube at anything above 144p.

We have 100/100 at our school but we have a crazy low amount of IP's so you can acces the internet only half of the time you would want to + its free so i cant bitch about it and the whole city is coverd with WiFi which is another way of gaining access to internet at school

I never understood the point of "public" schools charging the kids and parents random dumb fees like that. It makes the education less accessible to those that can't pay. Though it says more about the government than about the school IMO. We don't have to pay for internet where I live but we do have to pay for printing and ink. But the school hands out free scantrons to take tests on. I am in college so I do pay for it.

Never had any fees or data caps at any of my schools strangely enough Even through primary school (years back) there wasnt any caps... just finding the right room with computers and interrupting classes.

Although printer money we did have (apart from the IT students during college)

My university gives students a set amount of printing credits at the start of each academic year. Once you use it, you have to pay for more. That's as far as it goes for additional payments, though. I'm pretty sure most universities and colleges in the UK do the same thing.

That's ridiculous to sum it up. Where do the school boards spend the tax dollars?

I dare you to go and speak to your principal about this - the vast majority of government schools are heavily underfunded. For example when I was in high school we didn't even get enough money from the government for cleaners or gardeners so we had to have fundraisers or find the money from other places; mainly international students.

While yes the cap is a little low, it does its job no doubt in curbing internet abuse at school. Students I noticed spent a lot of time on YouTube and other sites in class instead of doing work.

I would also go and read your schools Internet use policy.

Just sayin..
