RMA choice

long story short, had to rma my 6970 lightning for the 4th time and msi told me i can switch it out with a 580 twin frozr 3 (not sure if it was a lightning edition but it was one of the 1.5 gb versions) so my question is should i keep the 6970 or switch it out with a 580? i know the 580 is stronger but only has 1.5gb vram and the 6970 has 2gb. I play on 1080p and ive seen some games go to 1.3 gb or so, and now with the newer ones it will probably go higher. thats what i'm worried about. let me know what you guys think

I personally would look up how much each of those cards are going for on the used market and go for the one you can resell for more (looks to be the 580). If the VRAM is insufficient, you can always sell it and use the money to help buy a 7950 or 660ti.

just as a side note, i change the stock thermal compound, even thought their compound seems ok, it was still splattered like a jackson pollock painting. so i remedied that with some sweet sweet ic diamond!

That's a pretty epic RMA, you wouldn't have to upgrade for a couple of years it seems.
